Variety in How We Learn

Taking piano lessons at Cheerful Keys means you cover a wide range of musical experiences.

Improvisation and composition

Students learn so much when they feel free to create their own music. They discover new avenues for self-expression. They’re proud of what they create.

Pieces and books that fit

The music we play is important. Many musicians have that one piece they remember from their own lessons that got them hooked.

At Cheerful Keys, listening to students and finding out what they love to play is a priority.

Fun and games

Getting up off the bench, moving around, and playing musical games is a big part of what we do at Cheerful Keys. Not only is this lots of fun, but it also strengthens understanding of the concepts we’re learning.

“I love to see my own compositions typed professionally. Recitals are exciting and fun!”

Student, age 10

Studio Activities

Getting involved in studio activities provides opportunities for collaboration and community.

Challenges and theme months

Practice challenges at Cheerful Keys aren’t just about how much we practice. Instead we learn how to practice effectively.

Theme months provide an opportunity to dive deeper into one area of musical development.

Piano parties

Piano parties are fun! We eat pizza, play for each other, learn something new, and play tons of musical games.

Piano parties are a great way for students to get to know each other and a fun way to practice performing.

Learning an instrument is hard work. A recital is a wonderful time for students and parents to celebrate the effort.

Experience performing builds confidence that can be translated to other areas of our lives.

“Piano lessons with Rebecca are great because she is an awesome teacher! I can’t wait to meet you! (new students) My favourite parts of piano lessons are the practice challenges, recitals, and piano parties.”
